empowHER Foundation
empowHER India is a non-profit organization based in Mahalakshmi, Mumbai, working primarily in the Raigad and Aurangabad districts. Our focus is on adolescent girls through our projects, Setu (Lifeskills Education to adolescents), and SAPHL (Sanitation Access Program for Hygiene Literacy) in schools and villages.
The SETU project is a comprehensive intervention aimed at empowering rural adolescent girls in the Raigad and Aurangabad districts. It focuses on enhancing socio-emotional well-being, decision-making abilities, health and nutrition knowledge, gender equity awareness, and financial literacy. By providing activity-based life skills sessions, community engagement activities, and mobilization efforts, the project seeks to foster lasting positive change in the lives of these girls.
The SAPHL (Sanitation Access Program for Hygiene Literacy) Project by EmpowHER India tackles essential hygiene and sanitation issues in upper primary schools in Raigad District, Maharashtra. This area suffers from inadequate sanitation facilities, poor hygiene practices, and a lack of menstrual hygiene management awareness, negatively affecting students' health, well-being, and academic performance, especially among adolescent girls. To address these challenges, we are constructing toilets in schools and conducting behaviour change communication (BCC) programs for students.
To empower HER to live a life of dignity and equity.
