Lanai Academy of Performing Arts

The Lanai Academy of Performing Arts (LAPA) was established in 2013, and became a non-profit 501(c)3 as of September 2016. LAPA is located in the community of Lanai City, Hawaii, and services all of the island’s school-aged children. There are about 550 students at Lanai High and Elementary School. Yearly, LAPA usually has approximately 120-140 children involved in its programming, which includes performing arts classes theatrical productions, workshops, and performing arts camps. From 2020-2022, due to COVID restrictions LAPA shifted its programming to mostly small outdoor and virtual classes, as well as virtual workshops with various guest artists. In 2023, LAPA for the first time since COVID, was able to do two live productions: The Claw and Bad Auditions by Bad Actors for the Lanai Community. In 2024, LAPA held its first ever production featuring adults and kids together—Jo and the Gigalytes,—an original musical co-written by LAPA’s Executive Director, Matt Glickstein.  LAPA's 2025 show, Flight of the Mothman, was another original written by Glickstein.
